Camp Lachenwald

Important Announcement about Camp Lachenwald!

We have just received formal notification that the new site for Camp Lachenwald at Franken Kaserne located between Illesheim and Ansbach, Germany will not be completed in time to open for the 2008 season.

However we will have camp in Germany! We will be relocating to Camp Freedom, the Boy Scout camp in Daupthe, Germany for this season. The camp is located about 5 miles from the original Camp Lachenwald site which was not available for use this summer. Our season will open Sunday 15 June for campers and close Saturday, 12 July as originally planned.

All campsites are equipped with two person wall tents, cots, and platforms. Meals are served in a dining facility with the exception of two meals that are prepared in the campsite. The site meets all Girl Scout safety, site and facilities standards and guidelines.

The camp shares a swimming pool with the local village. The camp has its own climbing tower and a small pond for boating. High Adventure activities such as biking take place off site. There is a central shower house, running water, and flush toilets near campsites.

Programs offered at Camp Lachenwald will continue as planned. Any modifications or changes to unit sessions will be communicated promptly to Girl Scout families should they occur.

This change of location will not affect Campeggio Bosco Ridente and the exciting programs we have planned in Italy 18 July - 2 August!

Confirmations for individual sessions will be going out to camper families later next week. We still have openings in some of our camp sessions. You can download the brochure, register and pay for camp securely by visiting the Camp Lachenwald & Campeggio Bosco Ridente information page.

We wish we could welcome you to our permanent home this summer but that is not possible. As Girl Scouts we are problem solvers and always open to new ideas and solutions. It will be exciting to spend one more summer in a region that is near and dear to us.

Please do not hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions.

Remember, Camp Lachenwald is a place in the heart not a place on the map!
