There are many reasons to contribute to USA Girl Scouts Overseas - North Atlantic (USAGSO-NA). Serving close to 3700 girls of US Military Active Duty or Civilian Families within the European Command during the 2006-2007 membership year, USAGSO-NA is committed to ensuring that all girls within its jurisdiction who want to become Girl Scouts have the opportunity to become a Girl Scout!

Serving and supporting girls is our mission. USAGSO-NA is totally self-funded. Monies raised in Europe support our girls and adult volunteer members! Your donation of support to the organization ensures that monies are available for:

  • Girl grants to attend Camp Lachenwald, or one of the two older girl event opportunities (Hangin' in Heidelberg or Keys to Leadership)
  • Girl grants to assist with girls who are accepted to a destinations
  • Adult grants to further the training of adult volunteers attending the Annual Training Conference
  • Training opportunities
  • Staffing Support

Family PartnershipFamily Partnership

Family Partnership is the funding initiative for Girl Scout families.

Launched during the 2006-2007 Girl Scout membership year with modest success; USAGSO-NA looks forward to expanding the initiative during the 2007-2008 Girl Scout membership year. Families who donated during 2006-2007 received the USAGSO-NA Family Partnership patch which girls could proudly wear on the back of their Girl Scout vest or sash. Families who are return contributors for 2007-2008 will receive a year rocker to be placed underneath the Family Partnership patch received last year in recognition of their continuing participation. New families contributing a minimum of $25.00 during 2007-2008 will receive the Family Partnership patch.

What does Girl Scouts and Pearls have in common? Here are a few ideas we discovered:
  • The pearl is defined as a "stone of sincerity" bringing truth and loyalty to a cause. The Girl Scout Promise says a girl will "serve God and my country" and the Girl Scout Law states a girl will be "honest and fair".
  • Girl Scouting was Juliette's "pearl." She sold her wedding necklace of rare pearls for $8000 to finance her fledgling organization. Nurture by Juliette's personal funding, the Girl Scout movement grew and flourished.
  • Pearls are luminescent and diverse. Girl Scouts is open to "every girl, every where" with a wide variety of program options which offer opportunities for every girl to shine!

The Volunteer Board of USA Girl Scouts Overseas-North Atlantic is a governance body, setting strategic direction, policy and fiscal oversight for the Girl Scouts in Europe.

USA Girl Scouts Overseas-NA is committed to providing Girl Scout adult volunteers with quality training to help them in their positions. Trainers are the heart of this commitment.

USAGSO-NA volunteer trainers plan, deliver, and evaluate Basic Volunteer Training (BVT), Program Age Level Training (PAL) and Outdoor Training courses. Trainers also plan, design, deliver and evaluate courses at the Annual Training Conference held each spring. On the average, trainers deliver 30 hours of training - about five courses - a year!

Trainers ensure that Girl Scout program, standards, policies and guidelines are accurately presented. They keep informed of the latest Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and USAGSO-NA program and training materials and continue self-development of knowledge and skills needed as trainers.
