Summer Resident Camp 2012

Geocacher, Night Owl, Science of Happiness, Truthseeker and Inventor? You might be asking what those names mean.  They are new badges from the new Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting and just a sampling of some of the exciting new program Camp Lachenwald has in store for your camper this summer!  Join the 2012 Centennial Resident Camp at Camp Lachenwald this coming July and see what all the buzz is about!  In the outdoor setting, girls will get to complete requirements for Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting badges and Girl Scout Journeys – and be on the cutting edge of what’s new, relevant and exciting in Girl Scouting –  2012 style!

Girl Scout campers make new friends and memories for life. A girl rises to meet the challenge of learning new skills, while enjoying what she already loves best. And, she’s sure to discover some hidden talents along the way! For decades, girls have become leaders at Camp Lachenwald. It’s a place where girls learn that they can improve their communities and ultimately, their world. This is the one summer adventure a girl remembers for life!

In the safety of our all-girl environment, girls try new things, have new adventures and can simply be themselves.  Camp Lachenwald fulfills the Girl Scout Mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place – and we do it all while girls have lots of fun!  AND, brand new this summer…be sure to check out the new half-week option for Girl Scout Brownies who might not be quite ready for a full week away from home.

Below you can click on the Summer Resident Camp 2012 brochure.  It explains the camp programs offered this year and answers some frequently asked questions.  A few of those questions are answered right here:

Q.  How do we register?

A.  The registration form will be online this year and will be available mid-March.  Until then, browse the camp brochure and get excited about what is in store for this summer!

Q.  How do I complete the paperwork for my Girl Scout to attend camp?

A.  This year there will be a page on this website dedicated only to the required forms for your camper.  A link will be sent to this page when the deposit for camp is paid.  After you register your camper online, simply go to the forms link you will be provided to:

  1. Click on and print each form
  2. Complete each form (or have the doctor complete it if it is the Camper Physical Exam Record)
    1. If you have an appointment with the doctor soon and want to have the form completed now, download it here:  Camper Physical Exam Record
  3. Scan and email all of the completed forms back to girlprogram@usagso-na.org
  4. Set the originals aside to send with your Girl Scout to camp when she comes

Q.  Are there positions available for volunteers at Camp Lachenwald?

A.  Yes, the kitchen does have a need for volunteers from time to time.  If you are interested in applying for a volunteer position, complete the Camp Volunteer Application 2012 and return it to girlprogram@usagso-na.org.

Q.  What about resident camp in Italy this year?

A.  Instead of resident camp this year at Camp Darby, we are offering an exciting weekend of Group and Family Camping.   Mark your calendars now for August 3-5, 2012 for fun in the sun in Tuscany with your group or family unit!  More details to come…
